About the Author
Michael Gering was born in Petaluma, California in 1960, into a military family. His early grade school education was in a tin quonset hut in Okinawa, which is a part of the Japans, and later in Germany, at the infamous Nuremberg American High School during 1973, 1974, and 1975
After coming back to the US, he was bit by the acting bug and attended Columbia School Of Broadcasting. He turned to script-writing in 1984 and over the next 20 years penned numerous screenplays (most of which remain unproduced).
While at Westside Pharmacy the author befriended George Carlin for several years.
George Carlin encouraged the unique freestyle flowing combination of three books in one book.
Despite what the publishing world discouraged in its traditional rigid requirements by rejecting it, George imparted his philosophy by offering this; "If it's up there in my head and I can get it down there on the paper... it stays in there Mike," ( And so forth adding.) "If I can do it... you can do it too."
The author found the Jack Keroac beats and heard the Hunter Thompson drum beats as he applied both broadcasting and screenwriting elements and tried combinations to immerse and merge those influences into the Writing. He counts Mario Puzo, William Goldman, Elmore Leonard, and Quentin Tarentino, as influential heroes and believes that the tales of Herman Melville's spiritual storytelling are truly timeless. He truly believes in the investigative journalism found in JIM MARRS--CROSSFIRE, 1989; that it was and still is... the ultimate whistle-blower from all of our U.S. History... both past and present. He feels strongly
it is the Pulitzer Prize worthy document for the truth in accumulating and the recording all of the cold hard facts surrounding the crime of the century--November 22nd, 1963. He feels uniquely the same way about the dedicated journalist and author Claudia Furiati--Z R RIFLE--Cuba Opens Its Secret Files--as being two of the finest documents in truth and for historical records... in regards to the facts in the JFK cold case.
As a boy in Fort Hood, Texas, Michael’s father, Alex Gering, took him to the Texas Theater. They toured through Dealey Plaza seeing all the historical sights in Texas. During this trip, a young kid of 13 became fascinated with the Kennedy cold case. The fascination never ended. 40 years later, Michael Gering logged in those 4 decades of the research that he had been gathering, and then he formulated all of that fact gathering and began assembling the pieces of the book. In 18 1/2 months, working closely with the tremendous support and guidance from his dedicated, dauntless, tireless, and devoted editor; Leslie Sears--LES IS MORE Printing And Graphics--they molded and forged the project... into the completed book. In combining the numerous decades of all the blood, sweat, and years... he spent pouring over hundreds of essays, documentaries, and countless data mining of resources from all of the various authors and multiple sources of Kennedy Assassination material....he uncovered inside the J F K Cold Case Files.
A culmination of fact & fantasy, script-writing & graphic fiction, The Beachcomber is Gering’s first novel. His research and writing brings the events and theories a fresh perspective that helps the reader formulate their own theories of the assassination, the events leading up to it, and the repercussions that resulted from it. He believes it is the avenue (or) the basic roadmap for the abridged hot route, and general walking tour, to go inside the J F K Cold Case; (and) after reading it....to finally emerge from all the records with all the pertinent data and to find and uncover the Da Vinci Code of the JFK Cold case... to resolve the mystery of the crime of the century.
Michael Gering has lived in Santa Monica, California, since 1991. He enjoys football games, documentaries, movies, and occasionally, beachcombing.
